We are well into October and I know I don’t have to tell you that Halloween is just around the corner. As a horror writer, the month of October is a special time. It’s that time of the year when I get to do countdowns, host marathons and write about them. It’s that wonderful time of year when old classics like The Evil Dead come back to theatres for one night only midnight showings. And it’s also that time of year when I get to compile a list of :

I’ve seen a lot of lists over the years. Everything from the top 10 best horror movies of all time to the top 10 worst horror movies of all time. I know we all have a pretty good handle on what good horror movies there are out there. Myself, I prefer the obscure and ridiculous. I like the kinds of movies that are extremely entertaining but at the same time terrifying. So this Halloween season I wanted to compile a list of 13 horror movies you SHOULD be watching. Chainsaw Mafia: Conquering Evil

In case you missed my previous post, I have just been signed up as a writer for The Chainsaw Mafia. A re-released horror website that's about to kick some serious ass. And speaking of ass whomping, check out my first article:

When Jamie first approached me via cable wire and asked me to be a writer for The Chainsaw Mafia, I was more than excited.  By golly, somebody is interested in what I have to say (boy, is she going to regret that one). From that moment on, I began a list. Every time I thought up some bad ass horror related thing I could chicken scratch about, I put it on the list. The list is pretty long and quite awesome but where do I start?  Do I start with “The Collected Works of Fred Dekker?” or perhaps “A History of the Wilhelm Scream?"

As epic as those discussions a, it’s not how I wanted to bust out on the scene.  And the more I thought, the clearer the picture became. If I’m going to sit down, put my thoughts to paper, and have a discussion with all of you, I think it best to explain my horror history. What are my interests and desires? What makes ME qualified to talk about horror?

Quite simply: A computer and an ever expanding library of movies.

But there’s more to it. There was a start. And quite honestly, it wasn’t pretty.

IT LIVES!! THE CHAINSAW MAFIA RETURNS!!!

It was over a year ago when I was asked by Mafia Headhunter Jamie Jenkins to be a writer for The Chainsaw Mafia. At that time I was really excited to write and really pumped to throw out my...ummm...unique perspective on all things horror.

That request is why I am here now. I was SO excited to get going that I just couldn't wait for the website to get redesigned and ready rock and roll, so I started my own. Just a little side project to keep myself motivated and hone my writing skills. And those skills...have crashed down to a mere "HOLY SHIT THAT'S AWESOME!" writing style.

Which, in all honesty, IS fucking awesome.

BUT! The Chainsaw Mafia is BACK! It's alive and it wants to eat all of you...but not before disemboweling you a la Texas Chainsaw Massacre. So welcome back the Mafia and say hello to their newest writer:
