Robert Picardo is "The Awakened"

Wow, this movie has a lot of balls. After doing a little investigating (I checked Netflix), this movie isn't even out yet and they have a sequel all worked out already. If you go to the website you can check that out. Among other pretty cool things.

Also if you go there you can read the synopsis. I can't copy and paste it and I have no time to write it down to type it here so I'll give you the gist of it: A farmer decides to take down an old tree, but when he does he finds a metallic object buried underneath. Once exposed to sunlight, it comes to life and opens....unleashing the awakened. (Aliens). And from there all hell breaks loose on the farm as they are cut off from society and struggle to fight for their lives.

Before I comment, check out the trailer. This actually looks like it might be a GOOD movie.

Whoa, was that Robert Picardo with a RIFLE? That's AWESOME! I don't recall him ever being that kind of character...the dude with the gun. He's always like the cool headed smooth talkin dude, but not much with the commanding roles. Not that I can recall anyway.

This movie kind of reminds me of Altered. That movie freaked me out. As do most "nasty aliens in the dark" movies do. I don't know why but creepy aliens (especially "the greys") freak me the fuck out and this looks like that kind of movie. I'm looking forward to it. I absolutely adore movies where people are out in the middle of nowhere, no chance of rescue, and there's a terrible evil that they must defeat. It's just a lot of fun in my opinion. (Examples: Tremors, Feast, The Thing.)

Although...we know there's gonna be a sequel so that must mean the aliens win. Fuck.

Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus Trailer...is...HERE!!!

Oh my god, the trailer is here. THE TRAILER IS HERE!!!

Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus: The highly anticipated sequel to Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus is December 21, 2010...just in time for the holidays. JUST IN TIME. Tell all your relatives to WAIT on buying you presents until the last minute because you don't want to miss out on this...

And yes, that is Urkel my friends. Everything we've been waiting for since I first announced the cast to when the production stills came online has all come down to this:

Oops. How the hell did that get in there? Sorry folks, won't happen again.

WWWWWWOOOOOOOOO!!!!! YEAH! That was awesome. Although, there is a severe lack of Robert Picardo in this trailer which just supports my theory that his screen time is probably a whopping 5 minutes. But we'll see. Hopefully they sprinkle that 5 minutes throughout the film so just as I'm getting bored, there's Picardo and my nerdom rises again.

Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus Production Stills! (with Urkel and Robert Picardo!)

Still no official poster so this will have to do.

Eh, bad movie news is kinda slow this week so thought I'd post some production stills from the upcoming highly anticipated Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus. (Anticipated in the circles that I run anyway)

This movie is for America.

Here is the Asylum's official News Release regarding MS vs CS.
Principal Photography on MEGA SHARK VS CROCOSAURUS has just wrapped and the first images from the film can be seen here.
The anxiously awaited sequel to MEGA SHARK VS GIANT OCTOPUS features Jaleel White (pictured) and Gary Stretch as a Navy scientist and a big game hunter who must set aside their differences to destroy the giant prehistoric creatures who are wreaking havoc on the Earth.
Robert Picardo and Asylum alum Sarah Lieving also star.
MEGA SHARK VS CROCOSAURUS will be released on December 21, 2010.
It’s our Christmas present to the world.
"Our Christmas present to the world." Wow Asylum. You really think a lot about yourselves don't you? I highly doubt there'll be lines of people outside Best Buy trampling each other to make sure they get their copy before Christmas.

Urkel, "What do you think Jeff Fahey?"
Jeff Fahey impersonator, "I think the Asylum are dicks sir."

But at least fortunately this WILL be out for Christmas in case anyone wants to actually buy it. And that only means I have to wait 3 more months before it graces Netflix instant watch. And then you'll be damned sure I'll be first in line for that travesty.

Quick! We have to save this parakeet from the Mega Shark. And some other giant creature. Maybe a Croctopus? A CyberYeti? I haven't actually read the script yet.

STOP! I am Robert Picardo. Star of Star Trek: Voyager and Stargate: Atlantis. I am here to bring order and redemption to this horrible movie. I'm probably only in this movie 5 minutes but that's long enough to get Mr. Gable to watch it. And the rest of America. Cuz I'm motherfucking Robert Picardo. The GREATEST BALD MAN IN EXISTENCE!!

You can check out The Asylum's official website for more production stills. They're more or less what I've already posted here. But there is more Urkel to be had.

BAD MOVIE REVIEW: Dead Heat (1988)

Lethal Weapon...of the Living Dead.  That is really the only way I can think of to describe Dead Heat.  I rate this movie solely on entertainment value.  This movie would never win an award (or prestige anyway) nor would you even be able to find it anywhere.  I was fortunate to get my hands on a dvd copy but from the looks of it, its a very well done bootleg copy...which is fine by me.

So a low down on what exactly is going on.  Dead Heat is a buddy cop zombie comedy about 2 cops out workin the beat when they are called into a shooting match at a botched jewelry heist.  The problem...the perps have been shot numerous times and refuse to go down.  After some fancy moves and a glorious car crash they finally stop them and then the fun begins.  From there the movie turns into a mystery as they try to hunt down why the recent crime wave has been because of zombies and then what they are going to do about it.  Eventually both cops die but are brought back to life and then they only have 12 hours to figure out what happened to them and who's behind it before they turn to organic mush.

The thing I love most about this movie is the case.  Treat Williams...YES! This man is awesome.  I've been a fan since I was younger and first watched Deep Rising.  From there I've enjoyed everything I've seen him in.  Joe Piscopo...YES!  This guy I'm semi-familiar with but he's mostly the wise ass, one-line spewing, bad ass mofo.  Robert Picardo...YES!  Easily the greatest character in all of the Star Trek universe (The Doctor) but here he has a small role as a lieutenant in the opening scene.  and finally Vincent Price...BIG YES!!  I was shocked to see him.  Well I guess I wasn't shocked to see him in a horror movie, but it sure was a pleasure to see him on screen in the midgst of all the craziness.

Clocking in at around 1:15, this movie does a lot in a short time.  I guess I wouldn't want it to be any longer since I'm sure the jokes would wear off and the story would fall apart.  It's perfect the way it is.  The one-liners are cliche but hilarious, the effects are actually quite good, and the story is both original and highly entertaining.  If you get a chance to see this, I would recommend it.
