First trailer for Full Moon's newest: THE DEAD WANT WOMEN!

Oh yeah, that's Eric Roberts BABY!

Synopsis:
Beginning at a stylish mansion in the roaring 1920's, a socialite, flappers, and the men who love them come to their ultimate demise. These ghosts continue to haunt the mansion throughout the decade. Now they've come back to haunt and chase after a new generation of beautiful girls. The Dead Want Women!
Trailer:

Wait a minute, this is Full Moon right? If I didn't know better I would think that this was some kind of "effort". Hey, I'm all about the puppets, and evil bongs, and more puppets, and just utter insanity from the outer reaches of space but this...this looks like something that might be a whole lot of awesome.

This looks like its going back to Full Moon's roots. It looks like it's going to try to be a little scary but witty at the same time. It's got a cool title, Eric Roberts, a pretty standard plot with a fairly interesting backstory built in, lots of nudity (there has to be, there was some in the behind the scenes video they put out awhile ago) and the trailer is telling me that we're in for something different from Full Moon.

Dear god. I think they've devolved themselves to evolve themselves. Go Full Moon Go!

The 15 GREATEST MOVIES of 2011!

2011 is drawing to a close (good riddance). It may have been a rollercoaster of a year personally, but it was a pretty amazing year for movies. Now, this time of year always calls for a "Best of" List and believe me that is what you're going to get. BUT! This list isn't like all of those other pussy lists out there only showing you what was in theatres and what has name brand actors. Oh no, although I enjoy those movies just as much as the next guy, they just aren't as great as these...

15. Rubber

Killer. Fucking. Tire. Need I say more? This movie actually has a lot more going for it than just a murderous telekinetic tire. It knows it's a bad movie and it plays on that so well.

14. Ferocious Planet

The Maneater series keeps kicking more and more ass. This one stars the guy from Stargate Atlantis and John Rhys Davies. The government is working on a top secret machine that opens a visual portal to another dimension but when they turn it on...it SENDS them to another dimension. This movie wastes no time and keeps the fun coming from start to finish.

13. Super Hybrid

I was so freakin' excited when I first saw the trailer for this movie. A new killer car movie! YES! I immediately bought it on bluray and haven't looked back since. A fun little monster movie about a killer car that is actually a shape shifting alien that eats people. It gets locked up in an impound lot and its up to the night crew to kill it. That's just so awesome. It's sadly PG-13 though. But I would compare it to a Tremors type of PG-13. Not a lot of gore but that doesn't matter.

12. Evil Bong 3D: The Wrath of Bong

This was my first big experience with Full Moon pictures. (Personally anyway) I saw this in the theatre, I experienced the entire scratch-n-sniff/3D goggles/meeting Charles Band in person. They even posted my review on their website! While the movie isn't perfect, the effects are better, and there's dick leeches. You can't go wrong!

11. The Human Centipede II: Full Sequence

HAHAHAHAHAHA Ass to Mouth 2: Fat guy jerking off with sandpaper HAHAHAHAHAHA

10. Sucker Punch

Ok, so I'm a hypocrite. This is a big budget movie that was on the big budget screen. This movie also happens to have been directed by one of my favorite directors: Zack Snyder. So suck it. This movie might be pulling ideas from everywhere but this movie wasn't meant to be original, it's meant to look good. And I loved every damn minute of it.  (Oooooo...pretty)

9. Drive Angry

Well, I've finally jumped on the Nic Cage bandwagon. This movie won me over in a million different ways. The plot completely rips off Ghost Rider, ANOTHER Nic Cage movie. This movie opened my eyes to the leg-a-licious Amber Heard (whom I later saw naked in The Joneses). This movie would be the end result of a millionaire passing away and leaving ME his inheritance. Who gives a fuck if it makes money, it's just 90 minutes of pure awesome. (I have a feeling Ghost Rider 2 will make 2012's list)

8. Kill the Irishman

I'm a little pissed that this movie killed Christopher Walken (oops...spoiler) but I'm also very pleased with the mustached Ray Stevenson. Can't argue with the senseless beatings and countless car explosions, either. (And it even has a pretty GOOD story.) Highly recommended.

7. Flesh Wounds

I fucking love ripoffs. Especially blatent ripoffs. And I just get all giddy when a ripoff blatently rips off ANOTHER rip off. Such is the case with Flesh Wounds. Kevin Sorbo (that's Hercules for all you TV folk) stars in this movie that rips off Robowar almost scene for scene which in turn rips off Predator almost scene for scene. Oh, and this exchange happens:

6. Gingerdead Man 3: Saturday Night Cleaver

Gingerdead Man 1: The first 5 minutes are the pinnacle of Gary Busey's career. Gingerdead Man 2: A biography of Charles Band and Full Moon pictures as told through the murderous shenanigans of one Gingerdead Man. Gingerdead Man 3: The Full Moon Fan's Love Letter to a movie we never knew we wanted. This time Gingerdead Man goes back in time to 1976 to kill bitches and whip out puns quicker than a WWII Pancake Breakfast. (think about it) If this movie wouldn't have teased nudity as much as it did, it would be much higher up the list. Other than that, GREAT flick. It takes from several classic horror movies (Silence of the Lambs, Carrie), it kills some ACTUAL Full Moon fans (they won a contest to appear in a movie), AND it has some cameos from Robin Sydney of Gingerdead Man 1 and the ladies who reviewed Full Moon movies on YouTube a few times. Great Movie. Great great movie.

5. Stakeland

Vampires eating babies. That's really all that matters. Stakeland is from the folks that brought us Mulberry St., that freakin' sweet movie about rat-zombies. This time we have a post apocalypse movie with vampires. It's brutal, it's in your face, and you'll love it.

4. Attack the Block

DON'T FUCK WITH THE BLOCK! An alien monster lands on Earth...in the Block. (Alien in da Hood) It shows its fierce teeth and scary face and a gang of no-good 15 year olds beat it to death. Shortly after, several MORE much larger and scarier alien monsters show up on Earth. It's up to the no-good kids on the block to kick some ass and take some names.

3. Super

Rainn Wilson pwning people IN THE FACE with a giant wrench. The hilarity never ends.

2. Priest

I LOVED this movie. I don't care how much the trailer made me think of Legion. I thought this movie was wonderful. It was short and to the point. They wasted no time with developing TOO much story, they just got right into it with the world they live in and how things work. The "Priests" are a group of...well, Priests...that are specially trained to kill the vampire monsters that live in their world. It's every bit as fun and action packed as the trailer suggests. The reason it's so good is because it plays itself straight and never once does somebody act as though they know this is a bad movie. And THAT is how you know it's awesome.

And the NUMBER ONE movie of 2011 is...

1. Hobo with a Shotgun

We all knew from the start that this movie would be movie of the year if not movie of the decade. You've got a rugged looking Rutger Hauer armed with a shotgun and a whole lot of suppressed rage. Team him up with a "looking for a better life" prositute and put them against a gang of good for nothing street punks and drug dealers, add in a whole heaping pile of unneccesary violence and practical gore...and you have yourself Hobo with a Shotgun. Your 2011 movie of the year.

Honorable Mentions (because I have not yet seen them):

Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings (Snowmobile IN THE FACE)
Nude Nuns with Big Guns (I believe there is only one nude nun and she has a medium gun but this title still kicks ass)
Norweigan Ninja (Oh yeah, this needs to happen)
Bloodrayne: The Third Reich (Dr. Uwe Boll is at it AGAIN with his immortal Bloodrayne vs Clint Howard and Nazi Vampires) Available on Netflix Instant.
Tucker and Dale vs Evil (JUST TODAY came on Netflix Instant.)

The 31 Baddest Days of Halloween: Survival Log Day 8

Today sucks. Right now sucks. I'm fucking tired as shit. I was up at 5 am yesterday, got a quick hour nap in after work, stayed up until 2 am checking out the midnight premiere of The Human Centipede 2 (hilarious by the way) and I got 2 hours of sleep.

Need. More. Coffee.

I wonder if I wouldn't just lose my sanity this month but my personality too? Like, would I be some kind of badass coffee zombie by the end of this month? I really fucking hope so, that sounds awesome.

OH mystical, magical, ancient Bad Movie Roulette Wheel, PLEASE GUIDE ME TOWARDS MY FATE!

The Bad Movie Ro..Ro...ROULETTE Wheel.

It's like destiny loves Full Moon as much as I do.

Fucking freaks EVERYWHERE! I'll give this movie some credit, their freakshow kicks ass. There's a part bug/part man, a woman swimming in laundry detergent that can eat anything, some Kuato (Total Recall) ripoff, and a motherfucking midget. A midget of all things!

This movie's premise is pretty simple. A bunch of asshole's go to the circus and check out the freakshow. They piss off the midget ringleader and are given free passes. All of the freaks show off their stuff and soon one of them is missing. The freaks start converting these dumbasses and everyone is happy.

This movie's pacing could be better. I guess my extensive history with Full Moon has prepared me for this kind of thing, they do try to weave an interesting story: and a fairly interesting story it is, but in all honesty nobody gives one shit. I just want to see freaks killing folks in amazing ways.

It's a Fred Olen Ray movie. He's like the poor man's Charles Band. (That is both an insult and a compliment) I think that's why this movie fits right in with the rest of the Full Moon fodder, it feels like Band himself directed this. I don't know if Fred O. Ray will ever be able to outdue his Evil Toons but this movie isn't completely terrible. There's a pretty nice rack on this one chick. heh heh heh.

Nobody dies in this movie. NOBODY! Fucking waste of time. But the freaks are pretty cool.

Waste of time, all of it, a complete waste.

The 31 Baddest Days of Halloween: Survival Log Day 7

Well the first week of insanity is over and it's been pretty awesome. I've unearthed some pretty amazing movies that I normally would have passed over in favor of something more epic. I've also endured some really terrible pieces of film. It really brings to light the fact that ANYONE can make a movie. All you need is a camera, and not even a good camera, to make a movie. From there, you just need some cool cover art and you're good to go. Actually, fuck the cover art: Just have a really stupid title and you've got my attention. It's kinda sad that that is what independent filmmaking has turned into these days. As I was compiling a list of Netflix Instant movies, ALL of the ones that I found shitty and interesting were all from the last decade. They all had zany covers and crazy titles (Bikini Girls on Ice comes to mind) but I just know that they aren't going to deliver on that title. If these movies had been made in the 80s, yeah you know they'd kick some serious ass. People that made movies with crazy titles back then were themselves out of their mind and made some really entertaining ridiculous movies. But now...people make a shitty slasher and when its over they give it a crazy title in hopes of selling more copies because there's no way the film can stand on its own.

But anyway, let's get back to today's movie. You voted and I suffered:

This movie has neither Horror OR Vision OR Future.

Horrorvision is from the J.R. Bookwalter era of Full Moon pictures. Full Moon hit a steep decline after their deal with Paramount ended. To try and get it moving again, Full Moon partnered with Tempe Entertainment (Bookwalter's company) and they pumped out a slew of really quite awful horror movies. I only know about J.R. Bookwalter from one movie: Zombie Cop. That was one of the most awful movies I'd ever seen. When I had first seen it, it'd been my most enduring movie. There was nothing all that great about it but there WAS a lot to rip on. But that movie was so bad that Bookwalter's name stuck with me. Years later, after my Full Moon lust had reached new heights, I started to notice his name again...and started seeing the movies he was associated with. They all retained some ridiculousness that Full Moon is known for but for the most part they are really not that enjoyable.

So here we have Horrorvision, co-written and produced by J.R. Bookwalter. I want to tell you what this movie is about but I really don't know how to put this shitpile into words. It's kind of like Fear Dot Com but worse. You go to Horrorvision.com and then you die. Well, only a few people die and then this tech geek decides that he's going to fight back. So he teams up with some Blade ripoff (of the Wesley Snipes variety of Blades) and they go on this crusade to destroy Horrorvision. They find the mainframe and its too late, it's on the net now.

This movie rips off itself. This stupid concept has been done over and over. It actually goes back and rips off Full Moon's earlier film: Arcade. The concept is more or less the same and they even pull some of the footage from that movie. If you've seen Arcade, then you are familiar with Level 1 and the skateboarding through the spiked hallway. (It's about 30 seconds into the trailer) That scene (along with the evil final monster: about 25 seconds into the trailer) make an appearance in this movie.

Don't watch this movie. I hate to say this because my love for Charles Band is pretty infinite but he made a big mistake working with Bookwalter. That guy touches gold and turns it to shit. Just not worth anyone's time.

I'll give some credit where it's due: the final monster in Horrorvision (pictured on the cover) IS pretty badass. It's at least a physical monster and not a CGI monster. This movie could have redeemed itself if Horrorvision.com would have spawned the monster 45 minutes earlier and then all the kids would have had to try and stop it somehow. (hint hint Charles Band: Horrorvision 2)

But I'm glad I watched it. I needed to see this for myself. Thank you all for voting. Honestly, the best part of watching this movie was the previews. I'm sure you're all aware of The Gingerdead Man movie Charles Band put out. This movie has a promo trailer for that movie and it features a CGI Gingerdead Man. Oh Yes, that movie was originally supposed to be ALL CGI killer cookie. HAHAHAHAHA That would've sucked so hard.

Yep, those are computer cords coming out of that guy's dick.

So I've been up since 5am today. I've gotta work all day today and then I'll be meeting up with some friends at midnight for Human Centipede 2 for a special screening. I'll be hopefully asleep by 3am, up again at 5am for The 31 Baddest Days of Halloween!, then I have to be somewhere at 9am, and then I have to be somewhere else by 3pm.

Tomorrow MAY break me. Coffee, you are my closest friend.

One fan's appreciation for the works of Robin Sydney

As I write this, I am currently watching Gingerdead Man. Gingerdead Man if you do not already know (and if you don't, you need to fucking find this shit. Gary Busey's FINEST moment) is one of Full Moon's epic horror movies about a psycho killer turned murderous killer gingerbread man a la Child's Play. Now as I watch this I am feeling a moment of clarity. Complete and utter clarity. And that clarity has a name:

Robin Sydney

I have seen her 3 times before. Evil Bong. Evil Bong 2: King Bong, and Evil Bong 3D: The Wrath of Bong. Now, maybe my views of Robin Sydney are a little off but I was under the impression that she was a one way street actress. In the Evil Bong series, she plays a total bitch. She is just that unlikeable woman that is the girlfriend of the guy that everyone wishes he'd dump. But they never break up because she knows how to work the angles and keep him JUST happy enough to stick around.

Now we come to Gingerdead Man. Her character is blowing my mind. She plays a baker who is AS WE SPEAK baking Gary Busey in cookie form. It's so fucking win. BUT there's Robin Sydney...being the most likable innocent little cutey the likes of which Zooey Deschanel could only hope to achieve.

What a fucking range. I honestly have never appreciated an actress as much as I do right now.

Last April I packed up some friends and drug them out to the theatrical showing of Evil Bong 3D: The Wrath of Bong. It was an amazing trip and I got to meet my hero Charles Band. That man is my life. It's the whole reason I am here, doing this, writing about amazingly bad movies. But that doesn't matter, what does matter is that besides the appearance of Charles Band, Robin Sydney was also in attendance. WOW. She was there. She fucking HUGGED ME. An actress. Hugged. Me. An event that will probably never happen again...at least nowhere in the near future, and what was my reaction....uggghhh....she's cutting into my Charles Band time. Go away.

What the fuck Gable. You have a pretty young up and coming actress touching you and you aren't the least bit interested. And I honestly regret ever feeling that way. I wish I wish I would've known her for more than Evil Bong. My extensive history with bad movies often times clouds my judgement. There are so many actors that are just STUCK as one type of character. Van Damme is always kicking ass, Buck Flower is always a drunken hobo, and Steven Seagal hasn't figured out how to speak to anyone without judo chopping them in the face. And these feelings carried over to Robin Sydney. She played a total bitch 3 times in 3 movies (same character) and I completely typecast her. As far as I was concerned, she's a total bitch.

WRONG.

No more. She really has a talent. I wouldn't place her amongst the most experienced and elite actresses.........yet...but she really has some potential here. I think if the right people mined this gold mine (no pun intended) that she could be a real somebody. She has the looks, she is very comfortable in front of the camera, she just needs to find that right movie that'll shoot her up the ladder.

Sadly, that won't happen with Full Moon. Of course, nerds like me that rage over Full Moon will know and adore her, but any normal person will miss this wonderful find. Looking over her IMDb profile, I'm very happy to see that she does a lot of stuff outside of Full Moon. I hope that catches a few eyes and she gets parts in big budget movies. Bruce Campbell once said that his career either meant big roles in small movies or small roles in big movies. I hope she has that kind of career. I want her to see the big time but I still want her to stay in KILLER FUCKING COOKIE movies.

Please don't turn into the new-age Demi Moore.

I'm sure I will catch a little flack for this but I appreciate the fact she doesn't do nudity. Ok, I don't know that she doesn't do nudity, I haven't seen the growing list of films she has starred in BUT the fact that she was in Evil Bong 1-3, a series built upon weed and nudity, and WASN'T naked in those movies says a lot to me. She has some standards. That's good. I would much rather see that she makes it up the hill using her god given talent over just splashing her tits all over the screen every chance she can get.

And if she does do nudity? uh, fuck yeah. We all want to see it. But I would like to think it's as tasteful as you can get. I love nudity as much as the next guy (hell today, I've seen over 10 sets of tits from several different movies) but for one reason or another I want to watch this chick act. I'm loving what she brings to the table. Even if it wants to kill me. (Get it, killer cookie) I guess what I'm saying is that I'd rather remember her talent over her tits. The tits I've seen today....are already forgotten.

So, what I'm trying to say is....check out Robin Sydney. Maybe don't necessarily check out her Full Moon films (which you fucking should anyway), but check out movies like The Lost, Big Bad Wolf, or the new Night of the Living Dead 3D sequel coming out soon. I'm really fucking pumped for that last one. This just shows hope for Robin. NOTLD 3D stars 2 major horror actors: Jeffrey Combs and Andrew Divoff. The trailer looks amazing and the fact that Robin Sydney is in it just shows me that someone is noticing her. I hope this continues.

The Robin Sydney train is boarding (again, no pun intended), you best get on before you get left behind. This is one ride worth taking.

Ladies getting EYE Raped in: KILLER EYE 2!

Don't believe me, check out the trailer:

At 1:10, right after she says "The Eye Wants to Procreate With Us."

The Eye Want to Procreate With Us. HAHAHAHAHA Hell Yes it does!

This movie has been nearly 2 months in the making. WOW. Full Moon is really pumping out that shit fast. I guess they want it out by Halloween since its: Killer Eye 2: Halloween Haunt. That's ok with me, that's always been a part of the Full Moon experience, watching an insane movie that only took a short time to make. The faster its made the more chance of cheese there is.

You know at least ONE of these ladies is against nudity. Probably the one with the Tshirt.

I think I'm the first one to report this trailer. That's sad. And awesome. (Hey, I'm on the cutting edge of badness!) I mean come on, a Full Moon monster in the REAL WORLD! With lots of unwanted sex! It's OBVIOUSLY the next step for this series. Who wouldn't want to see that?

Maybe it's not just the eye that escapes through the TV. Maybe TerrorVision will make a quick cameo. You know that thing is sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Dig that shit up and stuff him in a movie again. WE WANT TERRORVISION! WE WANT TERRORVISION! WE WANT TERRORVISION!

I hope there's some random cop they call in. You know there will be. He'll walk in and see how smokin hot they all are and have walking wet dreams. Then he'll try to save them from the Eye but he'll die but not before saying something so stupid you'll want to punch yourself. But he'll die and we'll all be the better for it.

I can't fucking wait for this movie. My mind is exploding with possibilities.

Good times. I assume this will be available in October on DVD. No official details have been presented. Check out Full Moon Direct in the future for details.

Full Moon Direct getting and overhaul: Now accepting submissions

Here's a picture of Full Moon Direct from April that featured my review for Evil Bong 3D. Hell yes I took a print screen of that shit. But as you can see, the website is pretty meh. There's a lot of stuff on there but it's not updated very well. It's kinda like my site here where I just keep putting new posts but never really update anything else. There's so many links that are dead and pictures that really don't matter anymore.

But not to worry, out with the old and in with the new. They're revamping Full Moon Direct.com and its going to be amazing. There'll be videos of the week, Charles Band will do his damndest to do a weekly vidcast, there'll be new articles from Past and Present Full Moon Directors and Crew like Ted Nicolai (Director of Subspecies 1-3, Terrorvision) and Stuart Gordon!! (Director of Re-Animator and From Beyond)

Hopefully it'll really take off and be amazing so we can get more of this:

On sale now! (only $20)

But don't take it from me, hear it from the man himself:

And now for more exciting news. A couple days after I watched the vidcast above, I received an email from Full Moon calling for submissions:

YOU have the opportunity to contribute to this fun new site! Please send a Youtube.com or Vimeo.com link of  your short video. Content length should be concise. Sometimes the best online videos are only 30 seconds long! It is much better to have 30 seconds of great content than 30 minutes of not great content. Length of the video should not exceed 15 minutes. If your short film is longer than 15 minutes, consider editing it. Or divide it into compelling episodes and submit the first episode. Trailers and extended trailers will also be considered. We are accepting submissions here: submit@fullmoonfeatures.com Please note: submissions will be received. Those chosen to appear on the site will be notified.
So if you have any self made short movies lying around, get them on the internet and submit them to Full Moon Direct for a chance to have them show up on the homepage! How cool is that. I've been wanting to make a fake trailer for a movie completely shot and made by myself so I think that its time to make that happen. I've written my ideas down so hopefully soon I'll have time to get out there and shoot the damn thing. It will be amazing. But until then, keep your eyes on Full Moon, amazing things are happening.

TRANCERS WEEK! Day 5: 2002

So here we are. We've made it all the way down the line: Trancers 6. So The Final Chapter wasn’t enough was it? I know that, you know that, we ALL know that. You just can’t STOP that much fun without fans BEGGING for more. So here we have Trancers 6…8 years after Trancers 5. That’d probably be ok (Hell Rambo returned after a longer hiatus and kicked more ass then ever before) if it weren’t for two things: In 2002 when Trancers 6 was made, it was a dark time for Full Moon. The budgets were pocket change and the quality was just not what it once was. I can only assume that Trancers 6 was a last ditch effort to pump a little life into the company. (Which in all honesty, I think it did)

The other, more important reason Trancers 6 is a bad idea: THERE’S NO TIM THOMERSON!

God save us.

God that’s just painful isn’t it? That trailer just makes you want to throw yourself out of a window doesn’t it? (More on that in a minute) This movie is a like a half decent fan film. Like some guy just LOVES fucking Jack Deth and decided that hey! Jack just inhabits his descendents right? So Tim doesn’t really have to be there. Let’s just splice in some cuts of Tim from the first 5 movies to get our plot moving (which this movie did) and then we’re off!

FUCK!

Let’s just get this out of the way: This movie is rancid. Everything about it is awful. The actors felt like they were pulled out of a homeless shelter and given a bottle of Karkov to act. (Most of them having this movie as their only credit) My camcorder at home can pump out better quality than whatever the fuck they used to shoot this thing. The lighting is terrible, the effects are hardly there. I’ll give the people who did the make up effects some credit: I’ve seen a lot worse. But when compared to what we’ve already seen: it’s just bad. And the SOUND, oh lord the sound. Un-fucking-forgivable. And the worst part is that its so fucking terrible that you can’t pay attention to the story because you’re too busy shaking your head and throwing up!

*tear

So what we have here is that some guy is checking on the past and sees that someone is trying to kill Jack’s daughter. So he has to send Jack back to 2002 (I think, I wasn’t really paying attention to that) to save her. He’s transported into the body of his daughter and has to deal with the fact that he’s a girl. (They try many failed attempts at humor with this angle) Eventually the Trancers catch up with Jack and Jack (actually it’s Jo. Jo Deth) traces the REAL origins of the Trancers to a meteor that crashed onto Earth. Some EVIL bitch hooked up a laser gun to it and when you shoot people in the eyes with it, it turns them into Trancers. So it’s up to Jo Deth to whoop some ass and save the world once again.

You know what’s really funny? This story actually fits in BETTER in terms of continuity then Trancers 2-5. Like Jack going back in time into his daughter’s body…it’s his daughter that we see with Jack’s personality. The way it’s supposed to be. He makes mention that the things he’s doing now risk his life in the future. The way it’s supposed to be. So…in a weird way this is a well written movie?

But well written isn’t what Trancers is about. We’re all about FUCK IT! FUCK THIS MOVIE! FUCK EVERYTHING! I want recklessness. I want ridiculousness. I want things that make you want to laugh because its so inconceivable. I want JACK DETH! (The Tim Thomerson one)

The Jack Deth Way.

But there is one redeemable scene in this movie. It ALMOST makes the entire effort worth watching. It happens somewhere around 20 minutes into the movie when Jo Deth has her first encounter with a Trancer. The following epicness ensues:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Almost worth it.

(Check back tomorrow for a little redemption movie that in some small way fits in with what you’ve seen this week. It’s something I discovered a few months back and I never see anything about it anywhere. And I refuse to let Trancers week end this way. Tomorrow’s movie isn’t Trancers exactly, but it’s close enough so…fuck it.)

TRANCERS WEEK! Day 4: ????

Can you handle it? Can you take it? Well I hope you have built up some endurance cuz ladies and gentlemen, today you’re getting a DOUBLE SHOT OF DETH!

My first thought was to review Trancers 4 & 5 independently. But then after watching the movies and getting going on Trancers Week, it didn’t feel right. You see, Trancers 4 & 5 were shot back to back and have one long continuing storyline. They’re both fairly independent of the other in terms of goals but they take place in the same universe so I’m taking the Jack Deth approach to this review:

In the event you decide to skip the trailer: Jack Deth is accidently sent to an alternate dimension where there’s hoards of Trancers eagerly awaiting to die at the hands of Deth. This alternate universe resembles medieval Earth and the Trancers proclaim themselves royalty. There’s the head Trancer who has become bored with everything and is intrigued by Jack Deth. He sees him as a challenge. So like a dumbass, he keeps letting him get away until it finally blows up in his face.

With a lead in like that, how CAN you skip it?

Also, ALL of Deth’s gadgets don’t work the same as they would in our universe. So like the LONG SECOND watch that stretches out one second for you into 10 seconds for everyone else…works opposite. It slows Jack down and speeds everyone else up.

HAHAHAHAHA This fucking movie. Crazy I tell you.

I’ll admit I had some serious reservations about this movie. And Part 5. For one: The concept to me sounded kinda dumb. And it’d already been done so well in Army of Darkness, I just didn’t see how anyone could possibly duplicate it and succeed. The posters looked kinda lame and made it seem like they were REALLY stretching to pump out a sequel. And knowing that they made 2 films back to back kinda raised a red flag to me that they’re just trying too fucking hard.

But then I saw something. Nearly 30 seconds into the opening credits I SAW IT. It reached out and poked me in the eye. I had to stop the OPENING CREDITS and jump on the internet to confirm what I had just seen. Yes friends, this movie AND Part 5 were written by none other than Peter David.

Who is Peter David?

SHAME ON YOU! Peter David is MEGA NERD! He’s written countless novels, comic books (for Marvel/Star Trek/tons of other amazing SciFi), and even other Full Moon movies (Like Oblivion and Oblivion 2). He has spent A LOT of time in the Star Trek universe. He’s written a shitload of novels and has even created a completely original, nearly 20 book Star Trek series! (That kicks some serious ass, lemme tell you) So, that being said, the second his name hit the screen:

That guy represents my reservations. They're going right out the door.

So here we have Trancers 4. The intro to this movie is amazing. Jack Deth is just getting sick of the same old shit. His life is even going FARTHER down the tubes because Harris is now sleeping with his OTHER wife from the future. WHAT THE FUCK MAN!?

And Deth, being the guy he is, doesn’t pick a fight but rather throws a variety of “Fuck You’s” at him. It’s just so god damn amazing. And then he goes to the bar and hooks up with a woman…

…who turns out to be the chick that’s about to send him on his next mission. HAHAHAHA

(Then this alien dude fucks up the time machine and puts it off course where he lands in a different world.) And you know the rest from the synopsis above. This movie is WILD. It’s so far “over there” that you don’t even care about “over here” anymore. I mean, we all knew time travel was possible through possessing people but traveling to another dimension? WOW. That’s fucking all kinds of awesome.

The thing that gives this movie its charm, is of course: Jack Deth. It’s not so much his reckless ways this time but how he actually copes with his surroundings. He's got no idea where he is or what's going on but there's Trancers and he's going to fucking murder ALL of them. He mouths off to everyone the way Ash would in Army of Darkness. And when he finds out that his stuff doesn’t work right, he gets all kinds of pissed off. It’s slapstick without the corny music. I love it!

But there is a downside. Trancers 4 (and 5 for that matter) plays out like a made for SyFy miniseries. Just way better. You can tell that the filmmakers are holding back on Part 4 because they want to save some stuff for the next part but at the same time are struggling to get through this part. So Trancers 4 pulls back on the reigns…

The Final Chapter: That's what YOU think.

…while Trancers 5 punches the throttle wide open.

Trancers 5 just never lets up. HOLY FUCK this was a great movie. Now that we’ve got all the bullshit set up and killed the people that are in the way…it’s time to get Deth home.

How?

The Tiamond. (It’s a giant diamond that allows the possessor to go anywhere, anywhen. Or a Time-diamond: Tiamond. Get it?)

So immediately we start on our amazing quest to capture the Tiamond. The Tiamond resides in none other than The Castle of Unrelenting Terror.

HAHAHAHAHA Even JACK thinks that’s the stupidest thing ever.

So the quest begins. And while they are away, for whatever reason, the bad guy’s right hand man from Part 4 takes a painting of the bad guy and “somehow” the bad guy from Part 4 returns a la Ghostbusters 2 from the painting. (God I hope you understand that sentence) So the guy that Jack singed in Part 4 is back…for no reason probably other than they needed a bad guy and it cost too much to hire another actor.

SOOOO…Jack and this other dude make it to the castle. Jack must face three trials before he can possess the Tiamond. The first being, of course, a pack of sex crazy ladies who distract you from existence long enough for you to die horribly. That shit don’t work on Jack ladies. Second, Jack must take down a horde of zombies: That just kind of obey him when he tells them to go away. And THIRD: Jack must face himself. That’s right:

JACK DETH VS JACK DETH!!
Just like Army of Darkness!

So Jack gets the Tiamond and is ready to head home…but not before the bad guy steals it. Now the bad guy wants to use it to get to our dimension so he can steal all our weapons and use them against everyone to rule the universe.

Blah blah blah. We all know how this ends. Jack Deth kills everyone and gets the girl. YEAH!

Fucking yes awesome. Jack NEVER lets up in this movie. He has a smart ass remark for EVERYTHING. I laughed so many times during this movie. There was this one part when a lady was begging him to go back to his world with him and Jack told her no by saying this: (paraphrasing) “I think a real woman is one that makes you want to bust her in the chops. Not doing it makes you a real man. You’re not that kinda woman” HAHAHAHAHA oh my god, that’s awesome.

Like I say over and over: Tim Thomerson is what makes this series so amazing. His portrayal of Jack Deth is spot on and fantastic. You just can’t wait to see how he handles the next situation. It’s always a surprise and always awesome. So it "borrows" a few things from a few movies, but those things are amazing and when combined they make the Optimus Prime of Science Fiction!

TRANCERS WEEK! Day 3: 2005

BUT HE NEVER DIED!

From time to time here at Mr. Gable’s Reality I am able to acquire certain “privileged” information. Sometimes it’s receiving a screener copy of a movie, other times it’s talking to filmmakers themselves. But today I want to share with you a conversation that took place nearly 20 years ago at Full Moon headquarters.

Here it is, uncut & unfiltered:

Full Moon Goomba: Mr. Band, the fans. My god the fans! They’re demanding more Trancers. Trancers 1 and 2 have literally killed at the box office. People are dying. It’s awesome.

*large explosion*

Sweet Cheezus. They’re at the door! Quickly, we need another Trancers!

Charles Band: Ummm….start out with Tim, I mean Jack…umm…in the middle of a divorce.

FMG: Why?

CB: BECAUSE IF FUCKING SAID SO, THAT’S WHY!

FMG: yes, yes sir. Please don’t hit me with your win stick again. I had hard enough time explaining it to my girlfriend last time. Wha, what else sir? HURRY! I can hear them charging up the stairwell.

CB: OH! Then all of a sudden an android from the future shows up in the…that pod thing from the second one.

FMG: The TCL Chamber?

CB: YES! That thing. And then he kidnaps Jack and brings him back to the future because there’s a…there’s ummm….a TRANCER WAR! All hell has broken loose and people are dying. YES! Angel city is lost. The Trancers are WINNING! So it’s up to Deth to go back to where it all started and end the Trancer threat once and for all!

FMG: That kinda sounds like the plot to Terminator 2.

CB: NO IT’S NOT! THERE’S NO FUCKING TRANCERS IN TERMINATOR 2! ONLY AUSTRIAN ROBOTS!

*beating at the door*

FMG: OH NO! THEY’RE HERE! WE’RE DOOMED! DOOOOOOOMED!

*printer spits out a few sheets of paper. VERY few sheets of paper*

CB: Not to worry son. I just finished the script.

END CONVERSATION

Trancers 3 is…

AWESOME!!

Once again Jack Deth, Writer, Director, Producer, and everyone involved with this movie NOT GIVING ONE FUCK ABOUT ANYTHING!

HAHAHAHA YES!

This is how you make a sequel. The problems with sequels is they try too hard to “continue” a story and end up just spitting in the face of it. But if you just say, “uh, fuck it. Who cares?” Then you make yourself a great movie. You know, you have an awesome character and some cool villains. Just kinda…carry them forward. Forget the details.

So we open up a year or two after part 2. Jack Deth is still possessing his ancient descendent and now is getting a divorce from his “past” wife Helen Hunt. He has a shitty detective service that’s going nowhere…and then OUT OF nowhere, a fishlike android dude shows up and abducts Deth. They hop in a TCL chamber a la Bill and Ted’s Fantastic Fucking Adventure and travel back (forward?) to Jack Deth’s present time. (2300’s). It is here where we find out about a catastrophic Trancer war that has destroyed the world and there’s a small band of resistance fighters shacked up trying to heal themselves before their next battle.

We meet a new character, Harris, played by Stephen Macht (who’s awesome by the way), and they’ve tracked the Trancer origins to 2005. Actually, they know that Lena has figured out the Trancer origins so they send Jack to 2005 to meet up with Lena who has been without Jack for 13 years so she really hates him. And she’s got a kid who may or may not be Jack’s.

Holy shit, that’s confusing. But I fucking LOVE time travel and they handle this whole part pretty well. It doesn’t “exactly” fit the timeline of the first two films but like I said, Fuck it. It’s Jack Deth.

So from here we learn that there’s a secret government agency that’s pumping out some kick ass formula that turns humans into super soldiers. And the ringmaster of this little experiment is none other than Andrew Robinson. You may have seen him in Hellraiser, Dirty Harry, Pumpkinhead 2, or my favorite role: Garak from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Also, there’s some fresh and perky nudity!

The thing that makes this movie and every Trancer sequel work is Tim Thomerson. That man’s charisma and the way he delivers Jack Deth is just so fucking amazing. It doesn’t fucking matter what’s going on, Jack Deth just dives in. There could be a pit full of monsters and a vortex of painful thorn bushes followed by an army of robotic cows and Jack Deth wouldn’t even think about it, he’d just grab his laser gun and shout, “LET’S FUCKING DO THIS THING!”

Just off camera Jack Deth is ripping his shirt off and getting ready to kick Sarlaac ass.

He’s always telling someone off or letting them know how big a squid they are. He lets everyone know that he’s going to kill them and there just isn’t enough fucking Trancers to singe. The lowest points of this series so far is when he doesn’t have anything to kill. It’s just depressing. Jack needs Death. And Deth needs Trancers. It’s vicious cycle of awesome that feeds off each other. I love it!

The effects for this movie were done by Robert Kurtzman's company. A few years after this movie they will be doing effects for Wishmaster. This guy is a fucking GENIUS! His practical effects are mindblowing. He just edges out the effects of Buechler, but just barely.

And finally, there's Andrew Robinson. I love that man. If I ever see some piece of shit movie sitting on the shelf I’ve never heard of and pick it up and see Andrew’s name on it, I always say: I’m buying this. Andrew is at the top of his CREEPY GAME in this movie. Not only does he make his presence known EVERY TIME he’s on screen, he’s also plays this creepy sex-crazed tyrant at the same time. He borders on rape with this one chick while he’s trying to “teach” her how to control her Trancing. He is the PERFECT adversary for Tim Thomerson. Both of them bring their characters out as far as they will go and then they push a little harder. It’s such a crazy thing to watch.

And I gotta point out one more thing: Robinson does what no other has ever done: He trances Deth. Albeit a very minor amount but he does inject some of that shit into him. Deth ain’t no squid so he doesn’t fall prey to it but you know if Trancers 7 ever gets off the ground like they’ve beentalking about, then that would be a pretty good angle to take it. Deth is getting old and weaker and the Trancer virus takes over. And then he turns other people into Trancers so he must kill everyone and cure himself before it gets outta hand.

I’m fucking rambling. I LOVED Trancers 3. I thought it’d be kinda dumb at this point but you see that mark on the wall over there? That’s MY FACE, after Jack Deth blew it off.

TRANCERS WEEK! Day 1: 1985

Before I get started, you'll want to check out the foreign poster as well:

America, when will you learn?

TRANCERS WEEK begins right here, right now. Trancers combines the two greatest things in the world: Charles Band and Tim Thomerson. When those two worlds collide, the possibilities are endless. And always fucking awesome.

We begin…at the beginning. In the future.

Trancers opens in the future. Our hero JACK DETH (a name they make fun of over and over again in this movie) strolls into a café looking for some coffee…and Trancers. Trancers are zombielike people under the mental control of some dude named Whistler. They look perfectly normal until they’re made out like Carpenter’s The Thing and then they transform into crazy psycho zombie bastards. Well…this happens in the diner and Jack Deth singes that squid. (I love the words in this movie. Everybody’s a squid. I gather it’s like being a square…but worse)

From there we get our plot. Whistler is alive…in 1985. Deth must travel back in time to stop him from killing the head counsel’s descendents. The thing is: You don’t actually go back in time, your consciousness takes over the body of your descendent at that time. (That can’t possibly ruin your own existence in any way) So Deth goes “down the line” and meets up with Helen Hunt, who quickly learns what a Trancer is, and she helps Deth in his quest.

That’s not the whole movie…probably something like the first 20 minutes. The rest is spent hunting Trancers, using cool gadgets, avoiding Whistler, tracking down the counsel’s descendents, and watching Thomerson being a generally cool guy.

Thomerson brings his best in this movie. If you’ve seen him play a tough guy before…nothing has really changed here. He’s just as tough as he ever was and will forever be. I love when he plays this kind of role. You’d see this same persona in Zone Troopers and Dollman and I assume I’ll see it in Trancers 2-5.

Trancers is hackysack insane. DO NOT try to make sense of it. DO NOT try to follow continuity (which really isn’t too terrible), DO NOT try to pick out paradoxes in time travel, because you know what….this movie is full of errors. AND I DON’T CARE! Why? Because I love time travel and I love tough guys doing whatever they feel like. You get both. Jack Deth is so fucking reckless and careless when it comes to the time/space continuum that he would have given Doc Brown a heart attack 10 minutes into the movie.

Jack Deth: Giving exactly ZERO FUCKS about anything.

And the effects! Classic 80’s Charles Band. This is a pre-Full Moon, Empire Pictures film. He put out a lot of crazy stuff and they all had pretty awesome effects. John Buechler did the effects for this movie…as he has done with a lot of Band’s stuff in the 80’s/early 90s. All of it spectacularly practical. It’s pretty cheesy in this movie…but that’s why we love it.

When all is said and done, Trancers is a really fun movie. The one-liners shoot out at you with machine gun pace, the action is overthetop funny, the 80s soundtrack is AMAZING, the tough guy attitude never lets up and never gets old, and there’s fucking TIME TRAVEL! HELL YES! And for some reason Helen Hunt agreed to do this movie (albeit early on in her career but still…Helen Hunt was in this movie…and the next 2 sequels)

The most important thing you can learn from this movie is that demon possessions are bullshit. It’s just a distant relative having a little fun. Fucking squids.

BAD MOVIE REVIEW: Demonic Toys 2 (2010)

Well it's about fucking time we got a Demonic Toys 2. The first Demonic Toys was so full of amazingness that I am absolutely SHOCKED it took this long to make a sequel. (Not counting Dollman vs Demonic Toys and Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys but a true straight up SEQUEL to Demonic Toys)

The original takes place in a warehouse full of toys...that get possessed by demons...demonic toys...crazy one liners...90 minutes of sweet toy murdering action. The original is amazing in my opinion and very worthy of the Full Moon brand name. It is one of a select few titles that are almost always recommended when somebody comes to you and asks...Full Moon, huh? Where should I start? Demonic. Toys.

But can part 2 stand up to the original?

Yes. Yes it fucking can.

The story goes basically like this: Group meets up at a castle to investigate a new toy. Dr. Lorca, a collector of oddities, is in search of his latest greatest toy for his collection. The oldest toy ever made. Well this toy happens to be possessed...by demons. So this toy gets loose and reanimates Baby Oopsie Daisy and Jack in the Box from the original Demonic Toys...which Lorca had recently acquired during the opening credits of the movie. And from there its a miles long race full of murder, mystery, an evil plot to steal the ancient toy, ONE FANTASTICALLY GREAT BABY OOPSIE DAISY ONE LINER AFTER ANOTHER, and demons. Fucking demons.

I honestly felt like I was back in the 90's watching this sequel. The story was classic Full Moon. There were recurring characters from OTHER Full Moon movies in this film. (Dr. Lorca from Hideous! RETURNS!) The plot progressed at about the same speed as its original...kinda slow in the beginning but it fucking kicked ASS the longer it went. The setting/mood/lighting/music/effects/EVERYTHING felt like 90s Full Moon. God how I loved it.

I didn't think they could do it...but they did. Somehow they made this movie almost 2 decades after the original and (CGI aside) made it seem as if it takes place right after the original. Thank you Full Moon. Please do this again...with Bad Channels! (And Dollman)

The effects were great. Mostly puppets...but I was actually quite surprised at the frequent use of CGI in this movie. It brought it down a little bit...but just a little bit. There were a couple scenes where it made some sense...like those scenes shown in the trailer. Otherwise the use of CGI is mostly to enhance the ridiculousness of the kills. (extra blood, know what I mean?)

I definitely recommend this...to the Full Moon fan. (just your casual observer probably won't appreciate it as much) Demonic Toys 2 is classic Full Moon and it just PROVES that the company is on the rebound. The new era of Full Moon is picking up steam, you'd be best to hop on the train before it speeds away, leaving you in the dust.

You can find the original on Netflix Instant and Demonic Toys 2 is available to rent on DVD. Or you can buy it from Full Moon Direct. or Amazon.

THREE new Full Moon movies go into production!

From the email I received yesterday:
Full Moon is starting production on 3 new feature films!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we're super inspired and excited about these unique productions!!!!!!!!!
They are: KILLER EYE 2: HALLOWEEN HAUNT! Our killer horny eyeball is back as a replica size hypnotic monster that terrorizes 5 hot chicks as they set up a Halloween haunt in an old mansion! UNLUCKY CHARMS: Four super deformed mythical monsters are called upon to extract revenge on a group of beauty contestants shooting a reality TV show! And THE DEAD WANT WOMEN! This title says it all! Our first living dead movie in ages - and these dead simply want women!!!
CB
HOLY SHIT! KILLER HORNY EYEBALL! I NEED TO SEE PART ONE! HAHAHAHAHAHA

This is awesome news. Even though I was really hoping TRANCERS 7 would be included in this list...but it isn't. I hope that stills makes it someday. But this news is still awesome! It's glad to see that their list of new movies is started to extend PAST sequels. (Killer Eye 2 not included) The Dead Want Woman: That sounds amazing. But I can't help but wonder in what way the Dead will need these women. Hopefully they need them naked. That's my vote. And Unlucky Charms...I know this is about midgets. Fucking awesome deformed midgets. Charles Band also included four character descriptions for Unlucky Charms, check it out:

FARR DARRIG:
a strange dwarf with a bright red beard. His clothes and hat suggest those of a Leprechaun, but not green....instead bright red

BANSHEE:
An old female hag with straw-like hair and milky-white eyes, dressed in rags, her mouth seeming much larger than it should

POOKAH:
a hideous hobgoblin with long sharp claws and wicked needle teeth

BLOODY BONES:
A one eyed Cyclops with a necklace of bones not quite stripped of bloody flesh
Ah, fuck yeah. This is gonna be awesome. I'll be sure to let you know when these become available!

Puppet Master Collection on DVD plus SO MUCH MORE!

Happy Full Moon Friday!

GUESS WHAT!? Charles Band (or most likely one of his wonderful minions) has linked my Evil Bong 3D review EVERYWHERE! He posted it on Facebook, sent it out with the email newsletter, put it up on the Full Moon Direct homepage AND the Evil Bong 3D website! We did it friends! By god, we're getting noticed around here. Now if we can just convince him to make that Wolf Cop movie, we're fucking set.

You know, it's just been a Full Moon/Charles Band kinda week. Everything from Evil Bong 3D to Incest Death Squad. It's been a hell of a time. I'll have to get out and do more of these journeys to see movies because it gives me a weeks worth of material to write about. But being it's been one amazing day after another I see no other way to end the week other than with Full Moon.

So, after stumbling around aimlessly on Amazon I discovered some movie sets I never knew existed. Get your wallets out, this is gonna be expensive...

(Click the picture to be linked to Amazon)

 Photobucket

Amazon Price: $26.49

HOLY SHIT! That is less than $3 a movie. Whether you're a fan of Puppet Master or are just looking to watch them all...this is the way to go. This set contains ALL 9 Puppet Master films. (excluding Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys) So that's Puppet Master 1-5, Curse, Retro, Legacy, and the All New Axis of Evil. I need this set.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $9.99

You've heard me talk about them all week, now you can own them!

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $10.74

This is an older set but still a good one.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $12.99

These are the kinda unofficial sequels to Robot Jox. Worth the watch. And I believe Barbara Crampton appears in Robot Wars.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $9.99

Get caught up for Gingerdead Man 3 with this set. Not a bad price for both movies.

 Photobucket

Amazon Price: $13.49

Fuck Twilight. These are real Vampire. Angus Scrimm vampires. It's a shame this doesn't have all 4. Still not bad though. You can always pick up 4 at Full Moon Direct.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $13.49

It's sad that Demonic Toys 2 isn't on here but its still a cool set with Demonic Toys, Dollman, and Dollman vs Demonic Toys. I've seen this in Walmart for $5 so you may want to try there first.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $9.99

Oh yeah, this set is worth it. There's actually 6 total Trancer movies. But I believe that the first 3 tie into each other best and give a really good effort. 4, 5, & 6 kinda do their own thing. Which is fine. And so is this set.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $9.49

This is another one I've seen in Walmart for $5. It's worth it. Especially if you are unsure of Puppet Master but you want to give it a shot. The first 3 Puppet Master movies are excellent and well worth this price.

Well that's enough whorin' around for Full Moon for one week don't you think? We'll see you next week where I'll show you a trailer that is one of the most amazing Rip Off...of a Rip Offs that I have ever seen!

Have a great weekend everybody!
