BAD MOVIE REVIEW: Demonic Toys 2 (2010)

Well it's about fucking time we got a Demonic Toys 2. The first Demonic Toys was so full of amazingness that I am absolutely SHOCKED it took this long to make a sequel. (Not counting Dollman vs Demonic Toys and Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys but a true straight up SEQUEL to Demonic Toys)

The original takes place in a warehouse full of toys...that get possessed by demons...demonic toys...crazy one liners...90 minutes of sweet toy murdering action. The original is amazing in my opinion and very worthy of the Full Moon brand name. It is one of a select few titles that are almost always recommended when somebody comes to you and asks...Full Moon, huh? Where should I start? Demonic. Toys.

But can part 2 stand up to the original?

Yes. Yes it fucking can.

The story goes basically like this: Group meets up at a castle to investigate a new toy. Dr. Lorca, a collector of oddities, is in search of his latest greatest toy for his collection. The oldest toy ever made. Well this toy happens to be possessed...by demons. So this toy gets loose and reanimates Baby Oopsie Daisy and Jack in the Box from the original Demonic Toys...which Lorca had recently acquired during the opening credits of the movie. And from there its a miles long race full of murder, mystery, an evil plot to steal the ancient toy, ONE FANTASTICALLY GREAT BABY OOPSIE DAISY ONE LINER AFTER ANOTHER, and demons. Fucking demons.

I honestly felt like I was back in the 90's watching this sequel. The story was classic Full Moon. There were recurring characters from OTHER Full Moon movies in this film. (Dr. Lorca from Hideous! RETURNS!) The plot progressed at about the same speed as its original...kinda slow in the beginning but it fucking kicked ASS the longer it went. The setting/mood/lighting/music/effects/EVERYTHING felt like 90s Full Moon. God how I loved it.

I didn't think they could do it...but they did. Somehow they made this movie almost 2 decades after the original and (CGI aside) made it seem as if it takes place right after the original. Thank you Full Moon. Please do this again...with Bad Channels! (And Dollman)

The effects were great. Mostly puppets...but I was actually quite surprised at the frequent use of CGI in this movie. It brought it down a little bit...but just a little bit. There were a couple scenes where it made some sense...like those scenes shown in the trailer. Otherwise the use of CGI is mostly to enhance the ridiculousness of the kills. (extra blood, know what I mean?)

I definitely recommend this...to the Full Moon fan. (just your casual observer probably won't appreciate it as much) Demonic Toys 2 is classic Full Moon and it just PROVES that the company is on the rebound. The new era of Full Moon is picking up steam, you'd be best to hop on the train before it speeds away, leaving you in the dust.

You can find the original on Netflix Instant and Demonic Toys 2 is available to rent on DVD. Or you can buy it from Full Moon Direct. or Amazon.

Puppet Master Collection on DVD plus SO MUCH MORE!

Happy Full Moon Friday!

GUESS WHAT!? Charles Band (or most likely one of his wonderful minions) has linked my Evil Bong 3D review EVERYWHERE! He posted it on Facebook, sent it out with the email newsletter, put it up on the Full Moon Direct homepage AND the Evil Bong 3D website! We did it friends! By god, we're getting noticed around here. Now if we can just convince him to make that Wolf Cop movie, we're fucking set.

You know, it's just been a Full Moon/Charles Band kinda week. Everything from Evil Bong 3D to Incest Death Squad. It's been a hell of a time. I'll have to get out and do more of these journeys to see movies because it gives me a weeks worth of material to write about. But being it's been one amazing day after another I see no other way to end the week other than with Full Moon.

So, after stumbling around aimlessly on Amazon I discovered some movie sets I never knew existed. Get your wallets out, this is gonna be expensive...

(Click the picture to be linked to Amazon)

Amazon Price: $26.49

HOLY SHIT! That is less than $3 a movie. Whether you're a fan of Puppet Master or are just looking to watch them all...this is the way to go. This set contains ALL 9 Puppet Master films. (excluding Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys) So that's Puppet Master 1-5, Curse, Retro, Legacy, and the All New Axis of Evil. I need this set.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $9.99

You've heard me talk about them all week, now you can own them!

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $10.74

This is an older set but still a good one.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $12.99

These are the kinda unofficial sequels to Robot Jox. Worth the watch. And I believe Barbara Crampton appears in Robot Wars.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $9.99

Get caught up for Gingerdead Man 3 with this set. Not a bad price for both movies.

 Photobucket

Amazon Price: $13.49

Fuck Twilight. These are real Vampire. Angus Scrimm vampires. It's a shame this doesn't have all 4. Still not bad though. You can always pick up 4 at Full Moon Direct.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $13.49

It's sad that Demonic Toys 2 isn't on here but its still a cool set with Demonic Toys, Dollman, and Dollman vs Demonic Toys. I've seen this in Walmart for $5 so you may want to try there first.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $9.99

Oh yeah, this set is worth it. There's actually 6 total Trancer movies. But I believe that the first 3 tie into each other best and give a really good effort. 4, 5, & 6 kinda do their own thing. Which is fine. And so is this set.

Photobucket

Amazon Price: $9.49

This is another one I've seen in Walmart for $5. It's worth it. Especially if you are unsure of Puppet Master but you want to give it a shot. The first 3 Puppet Master movies are excellent and well worth this price.

Well that's enough whorin' around for Full Moon for one week don't you think? We'll see you next week where I'll show you a trailer that is one of the most amazing Rip Off...of a Rip Offs that I have ever seen!

Have a great weekend everybody!

The 31 Days of Halloween: Charles Band #10 (NSFW)

THE TOP TEN

It's October and with it comes a huge list of epic greatness. In case you haven't read the intro to this thing, I'll be counting down 31 of the greatest Charles Band movies. Keep your internet dials tuned to Mr. Gable's Reality DAILY for new and exciting Charles Band goodness. I began this countdown with TEN Charles Band movies that I have yet to see, then I explored ELEVEN films that personally learned the art of Kick Ass! from Charles Band, and now I present to you, the loyal Reality fans, THE TOP TEN CHARLES BAND MOVIES OF ALL TIME! Let's do this thing...

The Trailer:

You're probably wondering how the fuck this movie made the Top Ten. Demonic Toys really? Well you sir, have not seen Demonic Toys. I'll break this down very quickly as to why this movie is amazing...

#1: A really nice set o' titties

My fiance is gonna kill me when she sees I posted this.

#2: David S. Goyer

If you don't know who David S. Goyer is, then you really need to check out his IMDb profile. He's the man that co-wrote Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and all 3 Blade movies. He is a man of genius and it really shows with Demonic Toys, one of the earlier films he wrote.

#3: Baby Oopsie Daisy!

This toy in particular steals the show. And it's so fucking awesome. Check it out...

So all of these things combined, along with some dark magic and Tracy Scoggins, make this movie easily take the #10 spot on the 31 greatest Charles Band movies of all time!

If you liked this movie then check out: Demonic Toys 2, Dollman vs Demonic Toys, Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys

BAD MOVIE REVIEW: Demonic Toys (1992)

That's right, I just sat through that whole movie.  Though I didn't really hate it, I was hoping for a little more.  I really don't know how I can justify that statement...being its a movie about a bunch of, well demonic toys.

If you're a fan of early Full Moon entertainment flicks...like Puppet Master, The Pit and the Pendulum, Subspecies, and Trancers, you'll probably like this movie.  I'm a definate fan of Charles Bands obscure horror.  I guess I like it just because its either so ridiculous or just plain crazy.

This movie ranks up there with the good of the bad.  Do NOT have any expectations going into this one, because it has none to live up to.  It is just a crazy fun ride filled with scary little toys (one BIG one), and foul mouthed little toy babies.

This movie has one massive PLUS on its side...and thats the character creature - baby oopsie daisy.  Holy shit that toy is awesome.  If he's not stabbing you in the balls, he's shitting his pants.  hahahahaha  It doesn't get better than that.  I easily have enough material to spout out at work for the next week compliments of that little bastard.

The acting in this movie isn't half bad.  The chicken guy is a little bad at times, and the "intense" crying scene's are enough to make you wanna roll your eyes, but over all its not bad.  It's not bad enough to eject the tape, burn it, piss on the ashes, and extract an ancient demon curse on every copy ever made.

The only other thing that would need to be mentioned is...the chick that gets naked later on in the film is MAJORILY fine lookin.  Niiiiiiice.  So, that being said, if you like bad movies I'd recommend this one.  It's good for a laugh, or if you're in one of those moods that anything is good.  I'm glad they recently did a proper sequel instead of the Dollman & Puppet Master versus "sequels".
